MSc in Conservation of Historic Buildings
Department of Architecture & Civil Engineering,
University of Bath
Our flagship postgraduate programme trains conservation
engineers, architects, and heritage managers to repair,
adapt, and manage historic buildings in the 21st century.
The MSc combines structural engineering, architectural
history, materials science, and heritage policy through
studio work, field visits, and a research dissertation.
Full-time, one year
Practice-led with live conservation projects
Taught by active researchers in heritage conservation
Graduates work in conservation practices, Historic England, the National Trust, and academia
We regularly offer funded PhD studentships in conservation
engineering, heritage management, and related fields.

institutions, heritage organisations, and industry partners.
Our current themes include structural conservation, digital
heritage, regenerative design, and heritage management —
but we are open to new directions.
We collaborate with conservation practices, heritage bodies,
contractors, and local authorities on consultancy, knowledge
exchange, CPD workshops, and co-funded research. If you have
